SMS Verbal Consent Script
North-Internal is an internal text messaging program operated by Jacob North. It sends work-related text messages only to employees who have agreed to receive them. There is no web form or public sign-up. Consent is collected verbally by the employee's manager, by phone or in person, by reading the script below word for word before the employee's number is added.
Script (read verbatim by the manager)
Manager: "I'd like to add your mobile number to North-Internal, our internal text messaging service. If you agree, North-Internal will text you about your work, such as schedule changes, shift and meeting reminders, project and system updates, and replies to your questions. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Agreeing is optional and is not a condition of your employment. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Our privacy policy and terms are at janorser.com/privacy and janorser.com/terms. Do you agree to receive text messages from North-Internal?"
Employee: "Yes."
If the employee declines
If the employee says no, does not answer, or is unsure, their number is not added and no messages are sent. Declining has no effect on their employment.
After the employee agrees
- The manager records the employee's name, mobile number, the date and time, the manager's name, and that the employee said "yes" to the script above.
- The employee is then added and immediately receives this confirmation text: "North-Internal: You're subscribed to work texts from North-Internal. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out."
Opting out and help
- Replying STOP at any time returns: "North-Internal: You're unsubscribed and won't receive further messages. Reply START to resubscribe."
- Replying HELP returns: "North-Internal: For help, email jacob@janorser.com. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out."
